Yesterday, Wednesday, July 11, 2012, we had the groundbreaking ceremony for Park Regency Thornton.
Park Regency, LLC, a Colorado-based health care investment group who in 2007 opened their highly successful 104 apartment premier assisted living center in Loveland, CO, are now building the new Park Regency Thornton Assisted Living at 126th and Hudson St., Thornton, Colorado.

Park Regency Thornton will provide both Independent and Assited Living apartments for seniors that will include person-centered care. Our mission at Park Regency is to make every effort to meet or exceed each resident's individual needs and expectations while maintaing the highest level of choices, dignity, privacy, and respect.

Staff will be available 24 hours a day, seven dyas a week. Park Regency Thornton will provide jobs for 45 to 50 employees once the building is full.

Residents will be able to spend leisure time at the surround sound movie theater, activites room, or library. An extensive eactivities program will include regular outings and professional entertainers. There will able be a health club with rehabilition therapies available.

July Update and Events

Park Regency is a leader in infection control. We take infection control very seriously in order to prevent severe infection outbreaks. We always looking for new products that will help us in our efforts. As a result, we have started using a product called "Electro-BioCide", which is the world's only disinfectant that combines a complete kill of bacteria and viruses typically found in the health care environment, has environmentally friendly ingredients, the lowest toxicity rating possible (no warning labels required), and is ph-neutral (non-corrosive).

This product will kill TB, Norovirus, Influenza, C-Diff, Staff, MRSA, HIV virus and a lot more (on contact) that normally remain on surfaces. For example, E.coli can survive on surfaces for up to 16 months, MRSA for 7 months, Influenza for 2 days, and common cold virus for 7 days. Most disinfectants are able to kill most of the pathogens, but not TB, Norovirus, or C-Diff.

Park Regency searches for the best products available and will continue to provide the very best protection for our residents, staff, and visitors. We encourage our residents and staff to wash their hands as often as possible to assure they are not carrying any infection from one place to another. We encourage all our readers to do the same and not to visit anyone when you are ill.

Upcoming Changes to Television Provider

As many of our residents and their familes may have noticed by the letters from Comcast, Park Regency will soon be cancelling our cable TV from Comcast. The reason for the cancellation is we are changing to satelitte TV from DirecTV. Hopefully this post answers any questions you may have pertaining to the switch. Here are some of the differences between Comcast's service and DirecTV's service that have prompted this change.

Price? The price you pay for television will not change.

When will this happen? Mostly likely by early July.

Does this affect my phone or internet? No, phone and internet service will remain the same.

Cable or satellite? Comcast--Cable. DirecTV--Satellite.

High-Definition Television: Comcast--With extra HD receiver. DirecTV--Yes, with more HD channels.

Reception? DirecTV will get a better signal and reception with better picture quality. DirecTV has less problems with channels cutting out.

Channels? DirecTV has more of the channels our residents want, and more channels in HD. For example, Comcast does NOT have the popular Turner Classic Movies, but DirecTV DOES have Turner Classics.

Customer Service: DirecTV has good customer service, Comcast's customer service isn't as good.

Park Regency Update

gardeningSpring clean-up
It is that time of the year here at Park Regency. We just completed re-striping our parking lot, and replacing any parking lot lights that have burned out. We have begun to weed our flower beds while encouraging the flowers to bloom. We could still use some help with weeding our courtyard flower beds. The flower beds are raised and easy to access. Get gardening tools, gloves, and trash bags from one of our receptionists and have at it.

Successful May events!
Our Mother's Day Luncheon was a huge success. We served a total of 135 residents and guests. We would also like to thank Francis Buckingham for his wonderful performance of music. He was a huge hit and will be our entertainment next year.

We here at Park Regency would like to send a special thank you and congratulations on an awesome job to Kevin Topscher and his friends from Loveland High School. They did a wonderful job planning, decorating, and putting on a special 50's party for the residents. The residents and staff are still talking about this wonderful day. It was such a huge hit that we are planning on making this an annual event. If you haven't seen the photos and videos of the dance yet, you can see them here.
