 NEWS & INFORMATION

Christmas and New Year's Holiday

It's the most wonderful time of the year, and we now many of you will be spending time with loved ones. We ask that residents please let us know if they will be staying in the building, having family over to Park Regency, or going out with family for Christmas and New Year's, so we can plan how big of holiday dinners to make and, most importantly, who will be in the building to get their medications, and who we need to prepare medications for them to take with to their family's get-together. You can stop by the front desk or call (970) 461-1100 ex. 83 to let us know. Thank you.

Plans for the New Year

we are now five years old and it is time for a face lift. We are in the process of developing plans to be implemented in 2013 to include upgrade of the front lobby and lounge, add or change out pictures in common space areas, replace worn furniture, carpet, etc.

We are open to your input as we develop our 2013 plans. Please give us your ideas of what would make our environment more pleasant and user friendly. Write a note to Jerry, Carol, or Rebecca.

Staff Changes

Effective December 1st, Jerry will be the Park Regency Loveland Executive Director and the Park Regency Thornton Manager. Carol Pegg will be the new Park Regency Loveland Administrator.

On January 1, 2013, Rebecca Topscher will take over the position of Marketing/Admissions Director and Karla Romero will take over at the front desk as out new receptionist.

We expect our operations and service levels will continue or improve with these great employees in their new positions. They have been training for the new jobs for months.

Please feel free to congratulate these people on their promotions.

Transportation

Park Regency provides transportation for residents to and from medical appointments, local emergency rooms, and group outings. Transportation is available as follows: Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm. (Please keep in min that Park Regency provides transportation within 10 miles of Park Regency at no cost.)

Every resident has the right to be transported to the hospital emergency room 24 hours a day. This is done by calling 911 either by the resident or a staff member or by being taken to the emergency room by a relative or Park Regency transportation if available. Likewise, a resident can return from the emergency room by a relative or if an administrative person is available, then that person will come to pick you up. Should no one be available to pick you up, both MC and McKee will call Yellow Cab for you.

If residents need transportation on weekends or holidays they should have family or friends provide the transportation. If family or friends are unavailable, then the resident should be prepared to call a local cab company or senior transport. The local Yellow Cab number is: (970) 224-2222. A one mile trip would run $5.75 plus $2.25 for each additional mile. SAINT provides door to door transportation within Lovealnd only. The Loveland SAINT number is (970) 223-8653. They provide transportation within the hours of 8:15am until 4pm. You must make an appointment at least 2 days ahead of time. A donation of at least $1.00 would be appreciated. There is also a new free transport service called Connecting Health. The University of Colorado Health and Columbine health Systems are providing ambulatory van runs on a regular basis Monday through Friday between PVH, Harmony Campus, MCR, and the Greeley Medical Clinic. Their schedule is available on the table near the front desk.

Saturday, November 3rd, 2012
10:00am - 2:00pm

You are cordially invited to join the Park Regency family as we host our third annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair, hosted in Park Regency's activites room. Come see some of the fine pieces our resident artists have created, as well as those of many fine folks from our local community right here in Loveland, Colorado. Artisans from all over the area will be displaying some of their finest works for you to enjoy and purchase, just in time for the Christmas season.

Everyone is invited, young and old alike.

Come and enjoy our hospitality. Refreshments will be served.

Calling All Artists!

Park Regency Premier Senior Living is pleased to announce that we are hosting an Arts and Crafts Show featuring the talents of our residents here at Park Regency, as well as those of our local community in the Loveland area.

This event is free of charge to both participants and the public. It is open to young and old alike and all forms of art and/or crafts will be considered. Some of the art forms that will be displayed include mosaics, oil paintings, water color paintings, and photography. We do ask that you keep in mind that this is a family-oriented event.

Park Regency will make the space available for all artists to display their art or crafts, but we do ask that all outside artists bring their own tables or other display needs. All participants will be able to sell their projects at this event (though you can just display), so you will also need to provide whatever you may need to collect monies from those attending to view and purchase your art.

Space is available on a first-come-first-serve basis as space will be limited to around fifty participants, so we encourage you to sign up early.

To sign up, all we need you to do is call Sue Stormo at 970-461-1100 x3157 or Jim Pegg at 720-684-7858 or 970-461-1100 x3170, give us some basic information and you're all set. It's just that simple.

Successful Evacuation Drill Performed Today

Today (August 28th), we ran a successful evacuation drill.

The drill was started at 2:25 PM this afternoon, and ran smoothly.

We had set an evacuation time goal of 30 minutes, we are proud to say that the evacuation was carried out in 15 minutes. We ran a very safe drill, and everyone is pleased with the outcome. As our first evacuation drill performed at Park Regency, the drill passed our expectations, and we feel we could not have hoped for anything more the first go-round. Evacuation drills will only be performed once a year.

The drill did show us what worked, as well as what didn't work as well. Thanks to this drill, we can address anything that caused a wrinkle in the evacuation, and, in the case of an actual evacuation due to flooding, power outage, or damage to the building that renders it unlivable for a short or prolonged time, we will better know what to expect.

We would like to thank all the residents for their wonderful cooperation, and all the staff involved for their good work.

August Updates and Events

5th Anniversary Party!

On Saturday, August 18th, 2012, we will celebrate Park Regency's fifth anniversary. We have been under the same management and ownership from the beginning and are very proud to be associated with Park Regency in Loveland.

The party, which includes all residents, will also be celebrating our the 70th birthday of our administrator, Jerry Bootzin, which is August 3rd. Jerry finds it hard to believe that he has reached his 70's and still has so much more to accomplish.

We will have a wonderful BBQ buffet from 11:30am to 1:00pm. Family members are invited at no cost for this event. However, family members should let us know if they will be joining us for the buffet. In the evening we will have a cocktail hour from 5pm followed by a dinner of appetizers and live entertainment with Cliff Spratt and Hawaiian dancers Nadine Lund and her daughter, who will perform outside on the patio, weather permitting. Dress for th entire day is casual Hawaiian. Please R.S.V.P. with the receptionist at (970) 461-1100 ex. 83.

Our beautiful flower beds:
Our flower beds, flower pots, and shrubs have been looking really good this year due to some extraordinary effort on the part of a few residents, staff, and volunteers. Pauline Jones, our resident gardener, has spent much of her own time in weeding and caring for all of our landscaping. She has made recommendations for getting some of the flowers and plants that we have now. Elden Hill, our chef, his daughter Christina, and his ex-wife Joyce, have all helped to provide flower beds and the patio water feature on their own time. All of these individuals have worked very hard to make Park Regency the pleasant environment it is. We thank them.

REMINDER:
Park Regency is a non-smoking environment. There is no smoking anywhere on Park Regency property for residents, guests, or staff.

REMINDER ABOUT MEDICATION CHANGES:
Park Regency needs to know about all medication changes, even if the resident adminsters their own medications. Many times residents to out to a physician who provides the resident or family with new prescriptions, but Park Regency is never told. When it comes to medications, please keep Park Regency informed. We need this information for our records.

New patio gate:
We will be adding an additional back gate of wrought iron to allow for large pieces of machinery to enter the patio area to work on the area of the building that faces the patio without moving anything.

July Update and Events

Park Regency is a leader in infection control. We take infection control very seriously in order to prevent severe infection outbreaks. We always looking for new products that will help us in our efforts. As a result, we have started using a product called "Electro-BioCide", which is the world's only disinfectant that combines a complete kill of bacteria and viruses typically found in the health care environment, has environmentally friendly ingredients, the lowest toxicity rating possible (no warning labels required), and is ph-neutral (non-corrosive).

This product will kill TB, Norovirus, Influenza, C-Diff, Staff, MRSA, HIV virus and a lot more (on contact) that normally remain on surfaces. For example, E.coli can survive on surfaces for up to 16 months, MRSA for 7 months, Influenza for 2 days, and common cold virus for 7 days. Most disinfectants are able to kill most of the pathogens, but not TB, Norovirus, or C-Diff.

Park Regency searches for the best products available and will continue to provide the very best protection for our residents, staff, and visitors. We encourage our residents and staff to wash their hands as often as possible to assure they are not carrying any infection from one place to another. We encourage all our readers to do the same and not to visit anyone when you are ill.

Upcoming Changes to Television Provider

As many of our residents and their familes may have noticed by the letters from Comcast, Park Regency will soon be cancelling our cable TV from Comcast. The reason for the cancellation is we are changing to satelitte TV from DirecTV. Hopefully this post answers any questions you may have pertaining to the switch. Here are some of the differences between Comcast's service and DirecTV's service that have prompted this change.

Price? The price you pay for television will not change.

When will this happen? Mostly likely by early July.

Does this affect my phone or internet? No, phone and internet service will remain the same.

Cable or satellite? Comcast--Cable. DirecTV--Satellite.

High-Definition Television: Comcast--With extra HD receiver. DirecTV--Yes, with more HD channels.

Reception? DirecTV will get a better signal and reception with better picture quality. DirecTV has less problems with channels cutting out.

Channels? DirecTV has more of the channels our residents want, and more channels in HD. For example, Comcast does NOT have the popular Turner Classic Movies, but DirecTV DOES have Turner Classics.

Customer Service: DirecTV has good customer service, Comcast's customer service isn't as good.

We're Going Fishing!

Spring and summer are here, and so is fishing season!

Every year, our chef, Elden, takes residents out fishing on Boyd Lake in his boat about once a week, weather permitting. This is a wonderful time for our residents to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather and Boyd Lake, as well as enjoy a great, popular activity.

This year, the fishing expeditions will take place on Thursdays, from 9:00am to 11:00am (getting our fishers back in time for some delicious lunch).

Please visit our front desk or call our receptionist to sign up.

It is required that everyone who will be fishing have a fishing license. If you do not have one and would like to fish, please let our receptionist know so we can get you a license.

Happy summer, and happy fishing!
