"I'm Thankful For.."

Thanksgiving afternoon our evening receptionist, Selina, asked some of Park Regency's residents what they're thankful for this Thanksgiving. Here's what our residents had to say.

"I'm thankful for being together."

"I'm able to stand on two feet at 93 years old."

"I'm healthy, and I'm glad to live here--it's nice, and I'm proud to live here."

"I'm thankful for a nice place to live, and a nice family."

"My family, grandkids, great grandkids, and that I got to spend time with them today.
I'm thankful for my friends, here and elsewhere."

"I'm thankful to have people like you around."

"What we got to eat today, we don't get that everyday!
But I guess I'm also thankful for whatever I've got."

"Everything! My family, but everything. I had a great time with my family.
I got to visit people I don't get to see often."

"I'm thankful that my husband's still alive.
I'm thankful for my children and grandchildren, who I saw today."

"I can almost take a few steps with my left foot.
I'm thankful I have a son like I have,
and I'm thankful for my new great-granddaughter."

"I'm thankful for my family."

"Well, my family, and all my friends here. And that God's let me live as long as I have!"

Horizon Lab Coming to Park Regency

At Park Regency we strive to provide the best possible service. With that in mind, soon it will no longer be necessary to leave the building to have blood drawn. Starting in January we will have a phlebotomist from Horizon lab come here to complete the lab orders we receive from the many doctors that treat out residents. Horizon lab will then fax the results to the ordering physician's office.

Getting up, getting dressed, and braving the weather just for a blood test will be a thing of the past. One day a week (most likely on Thursdays), a lab technician will visit each resident who has an order for a blood draw in the resident's apartment. Not only do you get to stay in the comfort of your own home, this service does not cost you extra. Horizon lab will bill you insurance just like before.

They will also be able to  collect urine and stool samples, as well as culture orders (throat, wound, etc.) on site. Horizon lab will provide us with the supplies, and our registered nurse will acquire the sample for pick-up.

Please call Rebecca at the front desk if you have questions.

Succesful Inspection from the Colorado Dept. of Health and Environment!

This past Monday, November 14th, the Colorado Department of Health and Environment came to do their annual inspection of Park Regency. They were here all day, and did a thorough  job. We're pleased to say that the inspection went well--we passed with flying colors! They found only one minor deficiency, for incomplete paperwork.

We were relieved with the outcome of this year's survey, and there was celebrating by the entire staff for our excellent grade.

As always, Park Regency is proud to do everything we can to bring our residents the very best in senior living care.

Medicare Enrollment Starts Earlier This Year

This year there is a new, earlier deadline if you want to change your Medicare Part D coverage for 2012. Open enrollment runs from October 15th to December 7th. Open enrollment gives you the chance to switch to another Part D prescription drug plan or to another Medicare advantage plan, or from traditional Medicare to a Medicare Advantage Plan and vice versa. During the enrollment period, you can compare the costs and benefits of your current coverage with the coverage of other plans. If you change coverage, your new coverage will start January 1, 2012.

To check plans, go to medicare.gov, or you can call David Jaeger of Banker's Life who volunteers his time to help you make the right choice. Call David to make an appointment. He will come to Park Regency to meet with you. His phone number is (970) 402-8629.

Halloween Party!

Come and join us on HALLOWEEN, Monday, October 31, in the Activity Room at 2:00pm for the return of Sue Stormo, accompanied by keyboardist and guitarist Todd Hosman. Receive a goodie bag, and enjoy wonderful music with family and friends. There will be a special Witch's Brew served, and some great tasting Ghosts. You may even dress in costume and take part in our Halloween Costume Contest, and you can even win a prize!

Everyone is welcome to participate in this adventure. The more the merrier!
